PPO DentalOne of the main advantages of a PPO Dental Plan is its flexibility. Like an HMO plan, a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) utilizes a prescribed network of providers. Where it differs is in its freedom of choice. PPO networks tend to be much larger, giving you far more options to find a dental care professional you like. All dental providers in a PPO network are contractually obligated to set prices at an agreed-upon rate. But, in addition to coinsurance costs, you will be responsible for paying an annual deductible. While the deductible tends to be a small flat rate, the coinsurance varies from policy to policy and from procedure to procedure. Some PPO policies will sanction out-of-network treatment for specialized cases. Of course, you may have to pay a significantly higher coinsurance rate, but it is a possibility.
